About Us
Located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, Vancouver Island Phytoplankton's algae facility spans over 8 acres of pristine land adjacent to the Pacific Ocean where hundreds of fresh water creeks flow into the Straight Of Georgia. These creeks provide the ocean with a multitude of nutrients that create a unique and one-of-a-kind body of water that supports high marine phytoplankton diversity.

Vancouver Island Phytoplankton prides itself on manufacturing natural, renewable and sustainable multi-species marine phytoplankton. Our large-scale facility produces phytoplankton outdoors year-round using natural seawater and natural sunlight. No artificial light, growth chambers, or bioreactors are used. We're all natural!
Vancouver Island Phytoplankton holds several licences including those from Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Where We Started
Product Expansion
Vancouver Island Phytoplankton originally began by harvesting marine phytoplankton as its sole focus. Through perfecting our craft and product, emerged soil enhancer and sea salts as well.
Our Soil Enhancer is harvested from the facility's outdoor tanks when the marine phytoplankton nutrients have settled at the bottom of the tanks. This concentrated liquid contains an abundance of nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

Our 100% pure all natural sea salt is harvested from the ocean, and dried using a very low temperature to retain all its trace minerals and its natural white colour.
Our Approach
The Pacific Ocean on the East coast of Vancouver Island experiences high levels of productivity for phytoplankton, zooplankton, kelp, shellfish, fish and marine mammals. That's why we take our commitment to the environment very seriously! Each step of our sustainable and renewable process utilizes the ocean water brought in to our facility, and after manufacturing, some of the water is stored and used for watering the facility grounds and supplying water to the buildings. The remaining water is then returned to Mother Nature in the same condition we received it.
Our Ethics
Vancouver Island Phytoplankton prides itself on being honest and ethical about our Canadian marine phytoplankton and its benefits. We do not claim our products cure diseases or reverses serious medical conditions, but we DO believe our phytoplankton can lead to improved health! We pride ourselves on being natural, organic and straight from nature.
